Trailbuilding

You could have hardly hoped for better weather at the end of October. And after meeting the contractors the Tuesday before, it was clear that there was a hard day's work ahead of us.

Paul Young has been milling timber on site for several days so some of the younger and stronger guys started moving this to the North shore area.....

Windy Miller manages one at a time.

.......whilst the site foremen looked on in their supervisory capacity.......

While the workers work, the foremen....welll......

....and the builders got down to it.

Support posts and struts in place.

It really is satisfying to see the structure coming together. Club members had put most of the support posts in earlier in the week - no mean feat, sinking a 4x4 2feet into the forest floor. Paul Mason and the forestry team then bolted the suppot struts in place forming the shape of the North shore.

 And the structure comes together....

So most of Sunday was spent milling decking planks for the surface. moving them on site and hammering them in place. Most of the fall zone has been cleared and the avenue of trees along the route has been stripped of lower branches to stop any unnecessary lacerations for those choosing the quick route down the embankment!

And after a hard day in the forest?.......the catering team set up the barbie and treated the team to burgers and "refreshments".

I'm a Barbie girl.........

All in all a great day's building.....with more to come. The team put in a great effort and there's still about a days work to complete the North shore section. Please keep an eye on the web site news and come along to help - any age, any skills - there will always be a job for you.
